Lelo Sona 2 Vs. Rose Toy Review
Welcome to my Lelo Sona 2 vs. Rose Toy review. I’ll compare a toy that’s taken social media by storm with an award-winner from one of the top pleasure product companies in the world.
I’ve thoroughly tested both toys and compared them feature-for-feature to help you choose the right one for you. The Rose and the Sona 2 may look alike — but trust me — they’ve got some notable differences. Let's dig in!
Rose Toy Vs. Lelo Sona 2: Similarities
First, let’s look at what these toys have in common.
Both the Rose Toy and the Lelo Sona 2 are in the air pressure/suction family, which means they offer stimulation that mimics the feeling of sucking, blowing, and even light nibbling.
Air pressure and suction toys are often described as feeling a lot like oral play with a partner, as opposed to the rumbly or buzzy vibrations you might be used to with other clit toys.
The Rose and the Sona 2 were designed for clit stimulation, but are really fun for nipple play and exploring any sensitive spot on your body. If you’ve already experienced the joys of suction and air pressure toys and want to add more to your collection, or if you’re interested to try new sensations outside of your tried-and-true vibrator, both toys offer some pretty thrilling stimulation.
What else do the Rose and Sona 2 have in common? Both are rechargeable and made from body-safe silicone, which (for me) are must-have features. They’re also fully waterproof, so you can use them in the shower or bath.
Like most air pressure and suction toys, they’re small and compact, which makes them great for travel or popping in your bag. Recharging time is 2 hours for a full charge, and they both offer about 1 hour of continuous run time.
As you can see, these toys have plenty of similarities. But after several test drives, I’m here to tell you: these toys are anything but the same. Follow me as I explain why.
Rose Toy Vs. Lelo Sona 2: Differences
The Rose Toy and the Sona 2 each have some really unique features. The more I tested them, the more I noticed the details that set them apart.
User experience
For me, the most noticeable difference is in the user experience of these toys.
While I appreciate the Rose’s flower design, I think it sacrifices some accessibility and user-friendliness for visual appeal. It doesn’t fit as comfortably in my hand as the Sona 2, and I have to hold it at an awkward angle to reach my clitoris.
The Sona 2, on the other hand, has a compact, ergonomic body that’s easy to hold and operate. It’s curved to fit the shape of a vulva, so I could rest it against my body while using it in a way that felt really natural and comfortable.
Cleaning
The Rose toy’s silicone petals don’t seem to serve a purpose beyond aesthetic value, and cleaning all the nooks and crannies was difficult and time consuming.
Contrast that with the Sona 2, which has a super-smooth exterior without any extra style flourishes and is a cinch to clean.
Stimulation
The Sona 2 also beats the Rose when it comes to pure stimulation. Again, it all comes back to smart, user-friendly design.
The Sona’s kidney bean shape is perfect for making quick adjustments to the angle on the fly, while the Rose’s conical profile makes it harder to aim and maneuver. Yes, I was able to press the mouth of the Rose around my clitoris, but the sensation didn’t feel as focused.
Mouth
The Sona 2 also has a slightly wider mouth that’s curved to cover more surface area around the clitoris. The mouth on the Rose toy is a very tight circle that seems designed for smaller clits, which could leave a bunch of us out in the cold.
Settings
The Rose offers 10 different settings vs. the Sona 2’s 12, so both offer some good variety. The real contrast here is in intensity. The Rose’s lowest setting is still pretty powerful, and may be too much for some people.
The Sona 2’s lowest setting is more of a gentle murmur, and the intensity doesn’t really amp up until you hit the higher settings. For this reason, the Sona is probably a better fit for folks looking for gentle or more gradual stimulation.
Price
It’s hard to top the Rose toy when it comes to price. If you’re on the hunt for a budget air pressure toy made from body-safe silicone, the Rose is a relatively low-risk buy. Plus, it is a super fun toy!
But when it comes to overall features, the Sona 2 is a higher quality product, and higher quality usually means you pay a little more.
The Sona 2 delivers a lot for the price, and is backed by both a 1-year warranty and a 10-year quality guarantee. It also comes with goodies like lube and a silk carrying case, which are nice little extras the Rose doesn’t offer.

FAQs
How Do I Use An Air Pressure/Suction Toy?
Air pressure/suction toys use tiny pulses of air instead of vibration to stimulate the clitoris. To use one, just put the mouth part of the toy around your clit, or hover just above your clit if you like gentler or less direct stimulation.
Experiment with different settings to see which intensity feels best to you. And don’t forget — air pressure/suction toys are also great on nipples, the perineum, or any sensitive spot on your body!

How Do I Clean An Air Pressure/Suction Toy?
Most air pressure/suction toys are waterproof, making them easier to clean than toys you can’t submerge. To clean a toy like the Rose or Sona 2, spray the entire toy — including inside the mouth — with toy cleaner.
You can also use a mild soap and water. If you’re washing the Rose toy, be sure to clean around the edges of the petals, which can harbor lube and bodily fluids. Rinse your toy thoroughly after it and dry with a clean towel or let air dry.

Is All Body-Safe Silicone The Same?
There are lots of types and grades of body-safe silicone, including platinum-cured, liquid, and medical grade. As you’d expect, higher quality silicone lasts longer, feels smoother, and typically costs a little more.
The Rose toy and Sona 2 are both made of body-safe silicone, but the Rose toy is constructed from multiple pieces of silicone that feel thinner and lighter than the Sona 2, which is made from a single piece of a more substantial premium silicone.
