The Rose Toy and the Sona 2 each have some really unique features. The more I tested them, the more I noticed the details that set them apart.   

User experience

For me, the most noticeable difference is in the user experience of these toys.

While I appreciate the Rose’s flower design, I think it sacrifices some accessibility and user-friendliness for visual appeal. It doesn’t fit as comfortably in my hand as the Sona 2, and I have to hold it at an awkward angle to reach my clitoris. 

The Sona 2, on the other hand, has a compact, ergonomic body that’s easy to hold and operate. It’s curved to fit the shape of a vulva, so I could rest it against my body while using it in a way that felt really natural and comfortable. 

Cleaning

The Rose toy’s silicone petals don’t seem to serve a purpose beyond aesthetic value, and cleaning all the nooks and crannies was difficult and time consuming.

Contrast that with the Sona 2, which has a super-smooth exterior without any extra style flourishes and is a cinch to clean. 

Stimulation

The Sona 2 also beats the Rose when it comes to pure stimulation. Again, it all comes back to smart, user-friendly design.

The Sona’s kidney bean shape is perfect for making quick adjustments to the angle on the fly, while the Rose’s conical profile makes it harder to aim and maneuver. Yes, I was able to press the mouth of the Rose around my clitoris, but the sensation didn’t feel as focused. 

Mouth

The Sona 2 also has a slightly wider mouth that’s curved to cover more surface area around the clitoris. The mouth on the Rose toy is a very tight circle that seems designed for smaller clits, which could leave a bunch of us out in the cold.

Settings

The Rose offers 10 different settings vs. the Sona 2’s 12, so both offer some good variety. The real contrast here is in intensity. The Rose’s lowest setting is still pretty powerful, and may be too much for some people.

The Sona 2’s lowest setting is more of a gentle murmur, and the intensity doesn’t really amp up until you hit the higher settings. For this reason, the Sona is probably a better fit for folks looking for gentle or more gradual stimulation.

Price

It’s hard to top the Rose toy when it comes to price. If you’re on the hunt for a budget air pressure toy made from body-safe silicone, the Rose is a relatively low-risk buy. Plus, it is a super fun toy!

But when it comes to overall features, the Sona 2 is a higher quality product, and higher quality usually means you pay a little more.
